Cryovac Food Packaging Division The Cryovac Food Packaging Division of Sealed Air Corporation used their proprietary Cryovac OS Films technology as the packaging for Flexplay Technologies, Inc’s disposable Flexplay-enabled DVD.
Flexplay wanted a vacuum-packaging solution, using Cryovac oxygen scavenging systems that consistently maintains the DVD's integrity in an extremely low oxygen environment until opened. Once the OS Films packaging is removed from the DVD, it can be viewed for up to 48 hours. This new information medium helps to bring entertainment to movie buffs without concern for video store late fees or storage issues.

Michelin Americas Research Corporation Michelin aims to contribute to the progress of mobility. The target of a recent project was to improve mobility for heavy truck tire customers who desire the traction provided by an all-weather tire without making the traditional sacrifice of tread wear performance.
Their Innovision entry was the XDN2 tire, an all-weather premium drive tire for heavy trucks which breaks the traditional performance compromise between tread wear and traction. This tire features a patented multi-dimensional MatrixTM siping technology that provides more than 1, 300 biting edges to enable excellent levels of traction on dry, wet, icy, and snow-covered surfaces. Additionally, the interlocking MatrixTM sipes provide the stability normally associated with solid tread blocks. The Matrix technology, in combination with a targeted tread rubber design and other tread features, provides excellent tread life and even wear. http://www.michelin-us.com

TiBA Solutions Prompted by the events of 9/11, and with the intention of keeping domestic exports out of the hands of terrorists, TiBA Solutions, a custom software development firm, has developed and deployed the Export Compliance Screening System (XCS). The XCS System provides a solution from a regulatory standpoint, comparing customer records to federally distributed lists of denied parties. The application takes a "black box" approach, standing alone and easily referenced by both commercial and custom ERP systems. An attractive feature of the XCS system is its simplicity. By using advanced pattern-matching technology, the application screens and compares customer data from disparate sources, archives and reports the results, but does not come bundled within a cadre of other offerings. Exporters find the solution to be an easily deployable, high value tool that meets federal compliance standards while enhancing homeland security. http://www.tibasolutions.com

Integrated Support Systems, Inc. The SI-BCA software facilitates the exchange of digital design and pre-manufacturing information between Boeing Commercial Airplanes and its global supply chain. SI-BCA enables suppliers to receive digital aircraft information immediately upon its release from Boeing in an ISO-standard data format known as STEP (ISO 10303).
The complex raw information is presented in a simplified, structured, and easy-to-use interface. The software automatically performs impact analysis for the supplier by identifying exactly what information has changed. The incoming information can then be incorporated into the supplier’s internal business systems without any manual intervention. This entire process can now be accomplished in a matter of minutes versus the days or weeks that would be required using traditional methods. Suppliers using SI-BCA realize dramatic improvements in efficiency, cycle time, and product quality. http://www.isscorp.com

Clemson University Combining adult learning theory, active learning via web-based resources and emerging eLearning standards, Clemson University's Department of Management has created a unique learning experience for students as well as highly resusable learning objects. Called Project MetaMorph, this initiative developed a new online course for Management Information Systems, a senior-level class which explores the many uses of information technology in business and utilizes hands-on, web-based learning activities to replace traditional lectures. A unique outcome of the project was the creation of "eAssets." From the work developed by the students in the course that has been tagged with SCORM compliant metadata, an eAsset repository was created, making the information reusable and accessible by anyone with access to the web. This project was truly innovative on multiple levels, from building an online course that applied adult learning theory and web resources to creating an eAsset Repository. By utilizing technology to teach, learn and create knowledge for future classes, Clemson's Project MetaMorph has transformed eLearning into eAssets and changed the landscape of learning. http://www.clemson.edu
